Amy S. Heppner

Amy specializes in health and welfare benefits. She counsels employers, third party administrators and insurers on plan design and compliance with the tax, ERISA, HIPAA and other federal law issues that affect these types of plans. She represents clients before the DOL, IRS, CMS and other federal agencies relating to health and welfare plan issues. Most recently, Amy has been extensively involved in assisting employers with the Health Care Reform Act mandates.

Amy has extensive experience including:

  • Preparing readable plan documents;
  • Summary plan descriptions and benefit summaries;
  • Negotiating administrative service agreements for medical, prescription drug, life, disability and flexible benefits;
  • Evaluating potential retiree health and welfare benefit exposure and implementing cost reduction measures; and
  • Assisting with the health and welfare aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
